Lead generation software for agencies running many clients
Agencies that run lead generation for clients need one customer profile per client, separate costs, and nothing sent without approval. Sluice's Agency plan ($149 a month) gives unlimited profiles, 20,000 credits in the first month, lookups at cost plus 40% or no markup with your own data key, and HubSpot sync.
The agency problem is margin, not leads
An outbound or lead generation agency can find leads with almost any tool. What erodes the business is everything around it: tools priced per seat, credits that vanish on misses, cost per contact you cannot predict when you quote a retainer, and the risk of one client's prospects being messaged with another client's pitch.
So the questions for agency software are practical. Can I keep clients apart? Can I see the cost before the work? Will it embarrass me by sending something nobody approved?
How a client is set up
A sensible setup for each new client:
- Customer profile. What the client sells and who buys it, written in plain language. On the Agency plan profiles are unlimited, so each client gets its own. Our guide to building an ideal customer profile helps with the kickoff call.
- Sources that fit the client. A SaaS client might use G2 and Capterra reviewers of its competitors plus LinkedIn post engagers. A trades supplier might use local listings. A staffing client might use companies hiring.
- Signals. Phrases of at least three words, each tracked by searches opened, people found and how many cleared 70.
- Autopilot under a daily credit ceiling for that client, checked before each pass.
- Approval. Drafts are queued for someone at the agency (or the client) to approve before anything is sent from the client's connected account.
- HubSpot. If the client uses HubSpot, leads arrive with a note saying why they are a lead, and the client's existing customers and open deals come back so they are never cold-pitched.
Matching sources to client types
Rather than repeating the same playbook for every client, pick sources by what the client sells:
| Client sells | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| B2B software | G2 and Capterra reviewers of competitors | Reviewers already use a product like it, with their stars beside their words |
| Services to trades | Local listings by trade and town | Small firms are thin in B2B databases |
| Professional services | LinkedIn post engagers, directory by title | Senior buyers talk on LinkedIn |
| Consumer or creator products | TikTok, Instagram, YouTube engagers | The conversation happens under videos |
| Anything sold to growing teams | Companies hiring by role and place | Hiring shows investment |
A worked month across three clients
An illustration of the maths, not a forecast. Say your agency takes the Agency plan at $149 a month. The first month carries 20,000 credits (one cent each).
- Client A, B2B software. Competitor review pages and two LinkedIn signals. Each run shows its price first; say you cap the client at 6,000 credits. 150 directory reveals of people scoring 70+ at 5 credits: 750 credits.
- Client B, commercial cleaning. Local listings for offices and clinics across four towns, capped at 4,000 credits.
- Client C, recruitment. Companies-hiring searches and "People there", capped at 5,000 credits, including 200 reveals (1,000 credits).
- Reserve. About 4,250 credits for reruns and email lookups. A miss is not billed, and a bounced verified email is refunded exactly.
Three connected sending accounts, one per client, add 3 x $10.80 = $32.40 a month. From month two the plan carries 14,900 credits; one-off credit packs and automatic top-ups cover busy months. If you bring your own data key, you pay supplier cost with no markup. Pricing the retainer is covered in what a lead actually costs.
Writing first messages at agency scale
The temptation at an agency is one template per client. That is how reply rates fall. Sluice drafts first messages from each person's own words, several at a time, and every draft (including one your team writes) gets a score and a reason before it can be queued. Weak template follow-ups are held for review. Sequences stop on a reply, a "no", a bounce or the do-not-contact list, and nobody is opened with twice.
For your team, the useful habit is reading the reason on low-scoring drafts. It is usually the same few mistakes: generic openings, claims the client cannot back, or a call to action that asks too much.
What Sluice does not give an agency
- Insights (reply rate by predicted score, bounce rate, cost per lead worth contacting by source) live in your workspace. A monthly report in your own format for each client is still yours to put together.
- HubSpot is the only CRM integration. Clients on Salesforce will need exports.
- No built-in dialer. Sending goes through accounts you connect, one approved message at a time, so it is not built for blasting high cold-email volume. Agencies that work that way usually pair a sourcing tool with a dedicated sender.
- Visitor identification only works for companies that own their network.
- Sluice is new and unproven at large volume, with no public customer logos yet. Run one client on it before moving a whole book.
The plan
Agency at $149 a month is built for this: unlimited profiles, team roles and invites, 20,000 first-month credits, cost plus 40% or bring your own key. If you are a specialist shop, the marketing agencies and web design agencies pages are more specific. Compare tiers on pricing.
Questions people ask
- Can an agency manage several clients in one Sluice workspace?
- Yes. The Agency plan allows unlimited customer profiles, typically one per client, each with its own signals, sources and scoring. Teams with roles and invites let several people work in the same workspace.
- How do I know what each client is costing me?
- Every pass shows its worst-case price before it runs, and you are billed only for lookups that return something usable. Insights show cost per lead worth contacting by source.
- Can I use my own data provider keys?
- On the Agency plan you can bring your own data key and pay no markup. Otherwise lookups are billed at supplier cost plus 40%.
- Does Sluice send messages for clients automatically?
- No. Sending happens only through accounts you connect and only for messages someone approves. Autopilot runs searches on a schedule but never sends and never deletes.
Try it on your own market
Sluice quotes the worst-case price before anything runs and charges only for lookups that found something, so finding out costs close to nothing.
