ZoomInfo alternatives without the annual contract

Most teams leave ZoomInfo over its annual contracts and price, reportedly about $15,000 a year to start. Apollo, Lusha and UpLead sell monthly plans with large databases. Cognism suits EMEA phone data but is also annual. Common Room replaces intent signals. Sluice suits small teams finding buyers from public activity, billed monthly with no seats.

Why teams leave ZoomInfo

Nobody leaves ZoomInfo because the database is small. It is very large, it has intent data and it has the enterprise features big sales organisations need. People leave over the commercial terms, which are reported by third parties because ZoomInfo publishes no prices:

  • Entry price. About $15,000 a year for 3 seats and 5,000 credits, with a median contract around $33,500.
  • Annual only. No monthly plan, so a 6-person startup commits to a year of spend in month one.
  • Renewal terms. Auto-renewal with 60 to 90 days' notice, and reported increases of 10 to 20% at renewal.
  • Use it or lose it. Unused credits are reportedly lost at the end of the term.

Put those together and the real cost per contact can be much higher than the list rate. Say you pay $15,000 for 5,000 credits and use 3,000 of them: each contact you actually took cost $5.

Before you switch: a contract checklist

The cheapest mistake to avoid is an accidental renewal.

  1. Find your order form and note the renewal date and the notice period.
  2. Subtract the notice period and add the result to your calendar with a week's buffer.
  3. Send notice in writing, even if you might stay, and negotiate from there.
  4. Export your saved lists and any contacts you have already paid to reveal, within what your terms allow.
  5. Start the replacement trial at least a month before the notice date, so you compare on your own market.

Alternatives that sell monthly

Apollo.io

  • Suits: teams that want the closest self-serve match: big database, filters, sequences, dialer, CRM integrations.
  • Price: Basic $49 per seat a month billed annually with 30,000 credits a year; Professional $79; Organization $119 with 3 seats minimum (as of October 2026). Monthly billing exists at a higher rate (third-party: $59 to $65).
  • Weakness: reported accuracy drops outside the US (60 to 73% against about 88% in the US), and reported bounce rates are 15 to 35%. More on this in our Apollo alternatives.

Lusha

  • Suits: reps who need direct dials and emails one contact at a time, with a browser extension.
  • Price: free with 40 credits; Starter $49.90 a month monthly ($37.45 annually) with 400 credits; Pro $69.90 with 600; Premium $399.90 with 3,400. Email 1 credit, phone 5. Unused credits roll over up to 2x (as of October 2026).
  • Weakness: small allowances. 400 credits is 80 phone numbers a month.

UpLead

  • Suits: small teams who want a ZoomInfo-style search with monthly billing and mobile numbers on every paid tier.
  • Price: Essentials $99 a month (170 credits) or $74 a month billed annually; Plus $199 a month (400 credits) or $149 annually; Professional custom and annual only (as of October 2026). Extra credits are $0.60 each on Essentials.
  • Weakness: per-credit cost is high at the entry tier (about 58 cents a contact on Essentials), and it has no intent or signal layer.

If ZoomInfo's intent data is what you will miss

Common Room

  • Suits: funded teams that bought ZoomInfo for "who is in market" more than for contact data.
  • Price: Essential $2,500 a month billed annually, 5 seats, 100,000 contacts; includes Bombora intent, job changes, social and community engagement and website de-anonymisation (as of October 2026).
  • Weakness: still an annual commitment of $30,000, and no sequencer. It saves you money only if you would otherwise buy ZoomInfo plus intent.

Clay

  • Suits: a team with an operator who can build workflows; job-change and company-news signals on Launch, web intent on Growth.
  • Price: free tier; Launch $167 a month; Growth $446 (as of October 2026).
  • Weakness: costs are hard to predict before a run because of two currencies, and the learning curve is reportedly 20 to 40 hours.

If you stay enterprise but want better European data

Cognism

  • Suits: EMEA-focused teams who live on the phone.
  • Price: not published; 5 seats included on Standard and Pro; contracts reportedly $15,000 to $60,000+ a year (as of October 2026).
  • Weakness: this is not an escape from annual contracts. It is a different annual contract, with reportedly weaker US and APAC accuracy.

Where Sluice fits

Sluice is not a ZoomInfo replacement for a 40-seat team that needs Salesforce, a dialer and intent data. We have none of those yet: HubSpot is the only CRM integration, there is no dialer, and "raised money" events are not available.

It fits a different buyer: a founder or small team that signed a ZoomInfo contract, used a fraction of it, and mostly needs a few hundred well-chosen people a month. Sluice finds them where they leave traces (people engaging with posts, competitors' reviewers, companies hiring, Google advertisers), scores each 0 to 100 against your customer profile and reveals only those at 70 or above, at 5 cents each from the directory. Plans are $9, $39 or $149 a month, monthly, no seats, no annual contract. It is new and has no public reviews yet. Full terms are on pricing.

The decision

If you need ZoomInfo's breadth and can justify it, negotiate your renewal rather than switching blind. If you mainly need contacts, Apollo or UpLead on a monthly plan. If you mainly need timing, Common Room. If you are a small team paying for credits you never use, start with how many contacts you actually took last year, then read what a lead actually costs and price it on a monthly tool. For phone-heavy teams, our Cognism alternatives page is the next stop.

Questions people ask

How much does ZoomInfo cost?
ZoomInfo does not publish prices. Third-party sources report an entry point of about $15,000 a year for 3 seats and 5,000 credits, and a median contract of about $33,500 a year, sold annually.
How do I cancel ZoomInfo?
Read your order form for the renewal notice period. Third parties report auto-renewal with 60 to 90 days' notice required, so put the notice date in your calendar and send written notice before it.
What is the closest ZoomInfo alternative?
For a large B2B database with filters and sequences, Apollo is the closest self-serve option. For enterprise-grade European data and mobiles, Cognism. Neither copies ZoomInfo's full intent and enterprise feature set.
Is there a monthly ZoomInfo alternative?
Yes. Apollo, Lusha and UpLead all sell monthly plans, and Sluice is monthly only, with no seats and no annual contract.
